Location

Ansitz Grustdorf is located in the centre of Eppan near Bolzano in South Tyrol, Italy. The historic farm, with its vineyard, orchard and vegetable garden, is enclosed by a traditional protective wall that creates a private and sheltered atmosphere. Despite its central location, the farm is a green oasis with plenty of space to relax and a refreshing pool. The cosy holiday apartments are ideal for couples and families looking for accommodation in Eppan on the South Tyrolean Wine Road.

Origins

The builder was the legendary Grustner Adam, who in 1580, during the infamous Turkish Wars, successfully led his troops as captain into battle before Anatolia (Istanbul). For his glorious deeds, he was elevated to the rank of nobility and was henceforth entitled to add the predicate “von Grustdorf” to his name. As a reward, Archduke Ferdinand of Freudenstein granted him lands in St. Michael/Eppan along with retainers. Today’s Römhof, the brother estate of Ansitz Grustdorf, is located in Eppan Berg and was used as a winter residence. In summer, however, Adam preferred to reside at Ansitz Grustdorf. The lineage died out around 1760. For about 100 years, the manor was inhabited by the noble von Vintschger family. Around 1860, the farming Sparer family acquired the estate and converted it into a farm.
